RemoteTV is an Android app that turns your phone into a remote control for your TV, over your home Wi-Fi network or the phone's infrared (IR) blaster. It is made by Northspire Studio ("we"). This policy explains what information the app handles, where it goes, and the choices you have.
In short: RemoteTV has no account and no servers of its own. Your TVs and settings stay on your phone. The free version shows ads from Google AdMob, which collects some device information as described below. Subscriptions are handled entirely by Google Play.
To work as a remote, the app saves the following on your phone:
This information is not sent to us or to anyone else, and it is excluded from Android cloud backups. Uninstalling the app or clearing its data in Android settings deletes it.
RemoteTV finds TVs on your local network and talks to them directly, using the control methods each TV maker provides. These connections stay within your home network and never pass through our servers. The IR blaster sends infrared light to the TV and does not involve any data.
The free version shows an ad from Google AdMob when you open the app, at most once every 10 minutes. To show and measure ads, the Google Mobile Ads SDK in the app may collect and process:
This data is collected by Google, not by us, and is handled under Google's privacy policy. See How Google uses information from sites or apps that use its services and the Google Privacy Policy.
If you are in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom or Switzerland, the app asks for your consent before personalised ads are shown. You can change your choice at any time in RemoteTV under Settings › Ad privacy choices. On any Android phone you can reset or delete your advertising ID in the phone's settings (usually Settings › Privacy › Ads, or Settings › Google › Ads).
Subscribers to "Remove ads" see no ads: the app does not request ads for them.
The "Remove ads" subscription is sold and processed by Google Play. We never receive your payment details. The app only receives confirmation from Google Play of whether your Google account has an active subscription, so it can switch ads off. You can manage or cancel the subscription in the Google Play Store. Google's handling of purchases is covered by the Google Privacy Policy.
If you use "Report a bug" or "Suggest an improvement", the app opens your own email app with a draft. Nothing is sent until you press Send. A bug report draft includes the app version, your phone model, Android version and the type of TV connection, all visible for you to edit. When you email us, we receive your email address and what you wrote. We use it only to reply and to fix problems, we do not share it, and we delete it on request.
RemoteTV does not access your contacts, photos, files, microphone, camera or precise location.
We do not sell personal information and we do not share it with anyone. The only third party involved is Google, through AdMob and Google Play, as described above. We do not use analytics or tracking services of our own.
RemoteTV is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect information from them.
Information the app stores stays in the app's private storage on your phone. Connections to TVs use the TV maker's own protocols; some are encrypted (for example Android TV and Google TV), while others, defined by the TV maker, are not encrypted but stay within your local network.
If we change how the app handles information, we will update this page and its effective date before the change takes effect.
